I Tried Video by Bone Thugs-N-Harmony

The “I Tried” video, which features Akon has a similar feel to music videos from other hip hop artists in that it addresses the lack of opportunity on the urban streets and the inability of young black men to overcome their bleak circumstances. The I Tired video takes place in the dead of winter in a decaying part of town, where the police pursue a supposed criminal offender running away through knee-deep snow. It’s a powerful and haunting video that despite itself does leave a little hope for change.
