In the “Since U Been Gone” video Kelly Clarkson plays the role of the spurned lover with relish, first throwing out all of her ex-lover’s bathroom supplies and ending up smashing the glass table in her apartment and ripping apart a bed pillow. You would hardly know this is the demure young woman who won the American Idol contest. The Since U Been Gone video is a hard-edged rock song that leaves all of the niceties at the door. Kelly Clarkson sure has come a long way—whether it’s for the better or not is hard to say—but this video definitely has an impact, just like the song.
